Vanessa Baker

Vanessa graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science majoring in Biomedical Science and continued with post-graduate studies at the University of Western Australia in the area of Adult Sleep Science.

Vanessa commenced her research experience at the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research in the area of type 1 diabetes in children and joined the sleep research team in 2008. She currently holds joint research positions at the West Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute and Centre for Sleep Science at the University of Western Australia. Since 2011, she has also worked in a clinical capacity as a Sleep Scientist at the West Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute Sleep Clinic at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.

Over the last 10 years Vanessa has not only had the privilege of working on a number of world-first novel research projects from the study of airway diseases using Optical Coherence Tomography through to the study of novel therapies in the treatment of sleep apnoea, but has gained extensive experience in the area of course management and education delivery. Together, with the academic team, she brings with her a wealth of knowledge and expertise through the successful planning, coordination and implementation of online sleep and dental sleep educational courses at the University of Western Australia.
