Kathleen Maddison

Dr Kathleen Maddison is an Academic and Research Fellow at the Centre for Sleep Science at The University of Western Australia and the West Australian Sleep Disorders Research Institute at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Perth.

Kathleen’s journey began in the area of exercise and sports science in the 1990s.  However, she quickly developed a strong interest in sleep and respiratory physiology and has been working in the sleep science area since 2003.  Kathleen’s research has focused on improving the understanding of the pathophysiology of obstructive sleep apnoea and evaluating novel therapies in the areas of sleep apnoea and insomnia.  Her research is published in top-ranking peer-reviewed journals and is well cited.

Kathleen regularly speaks at international and national conferences and is frequently invited to present to industry and government groups, schools and the community.

A passion for sleep education has resulted in Kathleen contributing to the development and implementation of a postgraduate course, general education sessions and health fact sheets, all in the specialty area of sleep science.  She brings with her wealth of knowledge and expertise in the area, a strong belief that together with nutrition and exercise sleep forms the third pillar of health.
