Essentials of Dental Sleep Medicine

The course will focus on developing your understanding and clinical skills required to practise in the area of dental sleep medicine in consultation with qualified medical practitioners.

Course structure

This course consists of 6 modules and a final exam. Each module includes approximately 5 lectures of duration ranging from 20-60 mins followed by a 30-minute quiz.

  1. Clinical and program orientation  
  2. Dental conditions related to sleep breathing disorders  
  3. Dentist evaluation of sleep breathing disorders  
  4. History and treatment guidelines for oral appliance therapy  
  5. Oral appliances: function, indications, efficacy, side effects, compliance  
  6. Oral appliances: clinical records  

This course is aimed at:

Dentists, dental hygienists, dental technicians/prosthetists, oral health therapist, orthodontists, maxillofacial surgeons, oral medicine specialists.

Course entry prerequisites

Those with a dental degree will find this course easier than those without, but anyone with training in any aspect of dentistry, orthodontics or oral medicine can take this course.
